Inspecting a Newly Received Vehicle
As a consumer there are many important questions we ask ourselves when deciding to choose
the right transportation company. How much will it cost? How long will the transport take? An
important factor you will consider is the safety of your vehicle. You want to make sure your car or
truck arrives in the same condition at destination as from when it left at origin. In the
transportation world this doesn’t always happen. Here are a few tips and information you will
need.
- When your vehicle arrives make sure to do a thorough inspection with the driver present notating any and/or all damages (nicks, scratches, dents, etc...) located on the vehicle. The driver will keep a copy of condition report as will the customer.
- If you are not present when the vehicle is dropped the condition report will have an STI (Subject to Inspection) stamp or signature written on it. You should still do a thorough inspection on the vehicle again notating any and/or all damages located on the vehicle.
- Take pictures! A picture is worth a thousand words and there is no better proof of a claim!
- Valid estimate: When you have damage one thing the claims department is going to want to know is how much it will take to fix the damage sustained to your vehicle. You can get this through a dealership, body shop, etc…
- Contact the claims department at the transport company as soon as possible! Even if you do not have pictures or estimates readily available the sooner they are notified the better. This can always be sent in after initial contact!
To ensure that your vehicle gets to its destination in the same condition that it left, always make sure to do a full inspection upon its arrival. Noting any damage sooner is always better.
